When I was 15 going on 16 I was at a crossroads of my life. I was headed into my junior year of high school. I was stuck in a depression, I felt quite dark and unsure about life.
Many great things happened that year that shot me off in a more positive direction, but one of the major ones was getting to know this good man, a man of God. I read his biography and developed a fondness and admiration of him because of his hard work ethic, his humor, his humility, and his drive to improve all things in life.
And one of his credos was what got me moving forward, and I still love this quote today:
"...you can't, you don't, build out of pessimism or cynicism. You look with optimism, work with faith, and things happen."
-ensign, june 1995
BAM! I love that quote. And I love the things you stood for, President Hinckley.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Love that quote- I've never heard it before, but its so true. Miss you guys!
Love it!
Thank you for sharing that- I think it is so incredible how one man could touch so many lives for good- and that the Lord know us and our needs and will put people in our lives who can influence us in such wonderful and even needed ways!
Oh, I will miss him so much. I could just feel his warmth and love to us. Never condeming, ever encouraging and amazing to the very end. Thank you for your post. He too helped me in many ways, one of which was to be so proud to be a member of the LDS faith.
I love that picture! I love that those crossroads days of life are over and it was great to have President Hinckley as our leader when we all went through them.
