It has been exactly three weeks since Sophie's surgery. She breathes well. She is much more verbal and energetic. She already went from a vocabulary of 4 or 5 words to 15, and she is trying out a new word each day. A few weeks ago she weighed 19 1/2 lbs., and now she weighs 23! I haven't seen her looking tubby in over a year!
I am so grateful for medicine and technology. The doctor said that if she would have gotten this surgery 10 years ago, he would not have been able to get all the gunk out and she would still have a hard time breathing. Thanks to technology, she is doing wonderfully! I am a proud and happy mom.

I am so happy for your sweet little Sophie Joyce!! I love you all
Oh yay! That is amazing...her weight gain. Poor little thing. Technology really is amazing and I am so happy that she is doing so well! THanks for the update!
I am so glad that she is doing so well! Yeah!
Miracles happen each day, some large and some small. I'd say Sophie's experience is huge and undeniably a great blessing to her as she grows. I still marvel at the changes little Dawson went through in so short a time period. It seemed unrealistic at the time, but I know that the improvements and progress he made had everything to do with the surgery. I am so glad you followed your instincts to have her looked at again and that you were led to the right doctor for the job.
Congratulations, and enjoy a much happier, healthier year!!!
23 pounds?!!?!?
no way! i didnt realize that it effected her to that extent. yay for sophie!
ps avery also weighs 23 pounds...crazy!
Oh my goodness your girls are adorable! I feel for Sophie I had a similar surgery when I was little. I still get sore throats but man she must be a toughy! It is so great to catch up with you guys and I am sooooo jealous of your weather.
I hope you don't mind me stopping in on your blog. You seriously have such a beautiful family! When your girls are older I have a couple boys in mind for them ;) Glad to hear your little girl is doing better. I used to get chronic sore throats & strep throat until I was 14, so I got my tonsils & adenoids taken out. It was painful but I have never had strep throat since then.
Thank goodness for small miracles!
I'm so happy to hear things are going so well!
Isn't medical technology miracles in themselves? I mean, can you imagine the way her toddlerhood would have progressed (or not progressed) if she didn't have this surgery? What a difference! I'm so happy for you and especially Sophie.
nana- I LOVE the new header!!!
